1.1 Introduction

Welcome to my Wiki-spaces on Global Warming. I am a Lobby Group Member and it's my job to discuss global warming to the government during a meeting.
Our lobby group is focused on the imminent danger of Climate Change or Global Warming directly caused by human activity.
We focus on our position that the government is doing nothing or making it worse and we believe that our lobby group can provide a solution by ourselves

1.2 Foreword to Prime Minister

Dear Julia Gillard,
You are ruining Australia by introducing schemes that are completely rubbish. You are incompetent as Prime Minister and your excuse is "Oh but we're moving forward"
Your carbon tax is ripping off Australians, you suck at speaking and I'd rather have Kevin Rudd whom you back-stabbed out of being Prime Minister.
Australia is being ruined by you.

Regards,
Prominent Liberal Supporter

2.1 Strategic Plan

This is the Strategic Plan which is how I will approach and manage my work

3.1 Climate Change Definition

Climate change is the change in Climate whether caused by humans or not. Global Warming is the rise in global temperature. Caused by greenhouse gases which cover the atmosphere and trap more sunlight and warmth than they should this results in the warming of the Earth. This is called the Greenhouse effect.

Fig 1. Suns heats and rays come inside the atmosphere and cant get out as more and more gets trapped inside the atmosphere, it evetually bakes the Earth, leaving it in the same fate as Venus

3.2 Climate Change is caused by human activity

There is countless evidence that tells that Global Warming is produced by humans. Countless studies and experiments have proved that Climate Change is caused by humans. There is many evidence as well that say that climate change is a threat.

3.3 Climate Change is a threat to Human Kind

Climate Change is a threat to Human Kind. Through history there has been many extinctions caused by Climate Changes. There have been a lot of Ice Ages which are an result of extreme Climate Change and each one of these have resulted in a large extinction. The following can be caused as a result of Climate Change (Global Warming)
  • Poisonous Gases in the atmosphere
  • Ice Caps Melting
  • Sea Level Rising
  • Ozone Deterioration
  • Direct Climate Change (More severe natural disasters)

3.3.1 Sea Level Rise

The Sea Level is rising by thermal expansion and ice caps melting. It has happened in the past,20,000 years ago, the glacial maximum, in which the sea level rose by over 120m. Rising Sea Levels can directly cause devastating damage to cities and things on coastline. Since the 1900s the ice fallen has has decreased dramatically and scientists estimate by 2300 there will be no ice left in the north pole.

Fig 2. This shows the rise in sea level as a result of the melting of the icecaps. As you cans see the sea level rise was around the same for 20years, 1880-1900, but then it starts rising when countries go through industrialisation and has been rising since 1910

3.3.2 Temperature Rise

Many studies have shown that the mean temperature has risen since the 1900s. These temperatures rise due to the industrial revolution as China and other big countries begin the process. It is still rising and when the temperature goes even higher eventually the polar caps will melt resulting in the above.

Fig 3. The mean temperature in the world has been rising since the 1900s in response to the process of industrialrisation

3.3.3 Greenhouse Effect

The greenhouse effect is basically the trapping of heat inside the Earth like a greenhouse on a much larger scale. This was always happening but recently because of industrialization it has gotten much more severe. When we (humans) start burning oil and coal to produce electricity we emit gases (CO2). These gases rise into the atmosphere and creates a layer. When the sun's heat and light come down in to the earth, they get trapped inside the earth making the Earth like an oven, where heat goes in but doesn't come out.

3.4 Ozone Hole

Since around 1970 - 1980 there has been a hole in the ozone layer around the Antarctic region. This has been caused by hydrocarbons which are man-made. Hydrocarbons are made when we burn coal or oil for energy. This is serious because the ozone layer is what keeps out harmful UV rays from killing us. If we keep going at a rate we are now the ozone hole is going to grow larger and if there is a hole in an urbanized area it is going to wreak havoc and warm the area. This is irreversible.

Fig 5. This is a picture of the declination of the ozone layer in the Arctic Circle. The Antarctic is much more severe. From this picture you can see how America is in the danger of being exposed to too much UV radiation

4.1 The Government

Now that I've presented evidence of Global Warming and how it can effect the survival of man-kind and other animals I will tell you what the Australian Government can do.

4.2 Carbon Tax Popularity Survey Results

100% of Surveyed people were aged 13-17yrs of age
I surveyed 12 people

Do you know what the Carbon Tax actually is?
Yes 91.6% No 8.3%

Has people in your family fretted about the Carbon Tax
Yes 58.3% No 41.6%

Do people in your family think that the Carbon Tax is good?
Yes 33.3% No 66.6%

Do you think that it is unfair that you should have to pay higher grocery prices?
Yes 91.6% No 8.3%

Do you believe that there is another solution that is better?
Yes 100% No 0%

Now that I've shown that the Gillard Government's Carbon Tax is unpopular the government has to make a new approach to reducing carbon emissions

4.3 Conclusion

=

=

The current Gillard Government is completely incompetent. Australia has so much money from taxes and they should spend more of it on renewable energy. They should make plans that don't harm/ is good to the average citizen instead of charging them for something they didn't do. We know that renewable sources are expensive yet the Australian Government can afford it so why not. Why not spend money on an issue which is more threatening and more immediate?

4.4 Our Lobby Groups View on the Topic

In the end we are just a lobby group expressing our opinion on matters. In our upcoming meeting we believe that the government should do the following things
- Spend more of the taxes on Global Warming
- Scrap the Carbon Tax
- Subsidize green products
- Fund CSIRO and other research in hope to get greener technology.

Our lobby group is looking forward to criticize your government in the upcoming meeting. We look to expose your flaws and get Tony Abbott the top job. If you do the following maybe we'll change our minds.

Thank You.

From Biased Lobby Group.
